Registration

If you’re a doctoral student at a Flemish University, then the registration fee is € 0, and the deadline for registration is 30 June 2024, but please be aware of our no show policy.

For all other participants, the registration fee depends on the moment of registration:

• Early bird (deadline: 15 April 2024): € 100;
• Late bird (deadline: 30 June 2024): € 125.

These fees include admission to the lectures, lunches, coffee breaks, a pizza night, and a kayak session.

Grants #

We were able to offer 5 grants; in addition to waiving the registration fee, the grant comes with free accommodation at site Kantienberg, and a reimbursement for transport costs up to € 250. Candidates were asked to send a one-page letter explaining their motivation for attending the summer school, how it is related to their research, and the reason(s) why they need funding. Out of the 15 applications, we selected Amirhossein Ajalloeian (University of Colorado Boulder, USA), Pablo García Gómez (University of Cantabria, Spain), Polina Gordienko (Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Germany), Joe Harrison (North Carolina State University, USA) & Liron Karpati (University of Maryland, USA).

No show policy for Flemish doctoral students #

As is customary for specialist courses of the Ghent University Doctoral School, the free registration comes with the caveat of a no show policy:

• It is possible to cancel free of charge up to 28 July 2024. All cancellations should be sent to school24@sipta.org.
• Should you fail to cancel by 28 July 2024 and don’t attend the school, we will charge a no show fee of € 150.
• This no show fee will not be charged if you cancel or fail to attend (part of) a course due to illness (with doctor’s certificate) or any other valid reasons.
• The no show fee will not be charged if you yourself find a fellow PhD researcher to replace you for the entire course. You need to inform us about this replacement by mailing us.
